Barcelona have made the first steps of trying to re-sign a former youth academy after club representatives met with the player’s agent.
Ernesto Valverde’s side made a strong start to their La Liga title defence, but following on from a shock 4-3 defeat to Real Betis over the weekend, they now hold a one-point lead over Sevilla, Atlético Madrid and Deportivo Alavés.
However, Valverde is looking ahead to the future and an ex-La Masia player has emerged as a new target.
According to Mundo Deportivo, the club have met with agent
Juanma López over the future of Dani Olmo.
Pep Segura, who is the sports manager for the football area at Barcelona, was at the meeting on Tuesday, along with technical secretary Eric Abidal and assistant Ramón Planes.
Both Abidal and Planes will be in Logroño, Spain, to watch the 20-year-old Dinamo Zagreb winger play for Croatia under-21s against Denmark under-21s.

The Spanish newspaper reports that the club have a €25 million price tag on the player, but that is only the starting price.
Zagreb believes the player is worth much more, having already rejected a €20 million approach in the summer.
The 54-year-old Barcelona boss will want to bring in Olmo with the future of Ousmane Dembélé uncertain.
The 21-year-old Frenchman left Barça’s staff furious after he went AWOL from training, while the former Borussia Dortmund star caused further problems for what he did before Barcelona’s match with Betis.
Should Olmo move back to Barcelona?
