A lot of people within football are very much against Usain Bolt’s venture into football but Paul Pogba and Raheem Sterling, two world stars, are backing him.

Eight-time Olympic Gold medalist Bolt has been lobbying for a professional contract in the game for a while now and looked as though he might get it with Australian A-League outfit Central Coast Mariners having been on trial since August.

The world’s fastest man scored his first goals last month but was unable to agree terms with Mariners after the two parties were far apart in terms of wages.

However, the 32-year old has revealed both Pogba and Sterling have been giving him advice as he vies for a professional contract.

“I’ve talked to Pogba and Sterling and they are happy to see me trying, they say ‘come on, you can do it’,” Bolt said, as per The Mirror.

“They support me, so I’m not going to worry about some simple players saying some things about me because I have high-level players knowing this is a dream and what I want to do.

“This is not about all about the money. This is a dream, and I want to try and see how good I can be.”

Former Republic of Ireland striker Andy Keogh slammed Usain Bolt’s football ability, saying he has “a touch like a trampoline”.

Bolt fired back with a defiant response on Instagram but did not directly address the comments made by the former Wolves man until now. And he’s fired back by calling him a “simple player”.

“Football is something that I want,” Bolt stressed.

“I’m sure he [Keogh] is not at the level he was when he started, you know what I mean?

“I don’t take it personally, I just laugh at these things because I’ve met Patrick Vieira, I’ve met so many big football players.”

Bolt previously trained with German giants Borussia Dortmund, Sundowns in South Africa and Norway’s Stromsgodset, while he rejected a two-year deal from Maltese champions Valletta FC.
